Women’s Health CT is proud to introduce Women’s Health Primary Care Shoreline, the first primary care practice in the Women’s Health CT network.
“We’re unique because we’re a primary care practice that’s entirely focused on women’s wellness and treating issues that go beyond Ob/Gyn,” says Kristen Stehle, MSN, APRN, NP-C one of two nurse practitioners at the practice.
Kristen is a Connecticut native and has over 20 years’ experience in women’s health. She is a graduate of Planned Parenthood’s Nurse Practitioner Program and earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In addition to keeping patients healthy by providing preventive care and routine health screenings, Kristen has a special interest in mental health support. “I want to take the time to have those conversations so that I really understand what’s going on in a patient’s life. Anxiety and depression can permeate everything and I’m here to listen and to provide some initial steps to help, whether that involves medication or developing a plan that includes therapy and alternative treatments such as exercise and nutrition.”
Joining Kristen is Allison Kilmer, MSN, APRN, NP-C. Allison is a longtime resident of Southeastern CT and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven with a Master’s in Nursing.
Allison is looking forward to helping her patients navigate the unique issues that women encounter. “I started out in family practice, and as a woman and a mother, I felt that I could relate to the problems my female patients were facing,” says Allison. “Our lives are often complicated by our personal relationships, and I saw that they didn’t always present their concerns in a straightforward way. One of the most important aspects of healthcare for me is being able to build a trusting relationship with my patients so they can come to me when they need to. They say if mom is happy and healthy, generally the whole family is happy and healthy.”
Women’s Health Primary Care Shoreline offers a wide range of services including annual health screenings, problem visits for cold and flu, as well as management of hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid, anxiety, and depression. Kristen and Allison will also be hosting a series of classes and seminars on topics such as nutrition, fitness, and yoga for mental health support. Updates and information on classes will be posted to their website.
Women’s Health plans to open several more primary care locations across the state in 2018. “This is just the beginning,” says Women’s Health CT President Nancy Bernstein. “As an organization devoted to women, we think it’s especially important to offer a range of services to treat the whole patient.”
Women’s Health Primary Care Shoreline is located in the same building as Shoreline OBGYN at 4 Shaw's Cove in New London, suite 201. For further convenience, extended appointment hours will be available on most week days.
