Robert E. Patricelli
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Bob Patricelli is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Women’s Health USA.

Most recently, Bob founded and was CEO of Evolution Benefits until July of 2011; he still serves as Vice Chairman of the Board. That company was sold to Genstar Capital in July, 2010. Prior to forming Women's Health USA and Evolution Benefits, Bob was Founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Value Health, a NYSE company and the nation's leading specialty managed care company. In 1997, Value Health was sold to Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation.

From 1977 to 1987, Bob served in a variety of positions at Connecticut General Corporation and its successor, CIGNA Corporation, culminating as Executive Vice President of the parent company and president of its health care group. Prior to CIGNA, Bob held appointments in numerous positions in the Federal Government, starting as a White House Fellow and serving as Minority Counsel to a U.S. Senate Subcommittee, Deputy Under Secretary of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and as Administrator of the Urban Mass Transportation Administration.

Bob is a member of the Board of Directors of Northeast Utilities, Newman’s Own Foundation, Newman’s Own, Inc., and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Richard S. Ruben, M.D.
Chairman of the Board

Richard S. Ruben, M.D. is one of the founders and is President of Physician’s for Women’s Health (PWH), the nation’s largest single group practice dedicated to women and formed in 1997. He also is one of the founders and Chairman of the Board of Women’s Health Connecticut (WHC), which was formed in August 1997, by teaming PWH physicians with an established group of health care management experts. Dr. Ruben has been practicing medicine for over 30 years and is the head of his local office of eight physicians in Danbury, CT. In addition, he served as Acting Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Danbury Hospital, a regional teaching hospital with a residency program affiliated with Yale University.

Dr. Ruben is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Ruben is a graduate of George Washington University of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee Women’s Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Following residency, Dr. Ruben became chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Walson Army Hospital in Fort Dix, New Jersey where he received the Army commendation medal for outstanding service. Dr. Ruben has been included in the Connecticut Magazine’s list of the state’s “Top Docs”.

Dr. Ruben was a founder and member of the Board of the Danbury Hospital Foundation. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists, Connecticut State Medical Society, as well as the Fairfield County Medical Association.

Nancy Bernstein
President and Chief Executive Officer

Nancy Bernstein is President and Chief Executive Officer of Women’s Health Connecticut, which supports a network of over 200 physicians and other health care professionals. Nancy was instrumental in forming a captive professional liability insurance company in Bermuda of which she serves as President and Chairperson of the Board. She also has responsibility for the Clinical Trials Division of Women’s Health USA.

Prior to joining Women’s Health, Nancy held management positions at community and academic hospitals and health systems in the Northeast and Midwest. She received her Master’s degree from Harvard University in Health Policy and Management, and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Nancy previously served or currently serves on the boards of Leadership Greater Hartford, Community Health Charities, Connecticut Center for Primary Care and United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 from the Hartford Business Journal for her contributions to the region.

Mark S. DeFrancesco, M.D., M.B.A.
Chief Medical Officer

Mark S. DeFrancesco, M.D. is one of the founders and serves on the Board of Directors of Physicians for Women's Health, LLC (PWH). In addition to being Vice-President of PWH, he serves on the Board of Women's Health Connecticut. He has been practicing medicine for more than 25 years and is the head of his local office in Waterbury, CT. As Chief Medical Officer of Women's Health Connecticut, Dr. DeFrancesco is involved with developing new clinical and quality management programs, credentialing of physicians, assisting with clinical research activities, interacting with managed care organizations on clinical issues.

Dr. DeFrancesco is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and served as the Chair of ACOG's District I from 2006 - 2009. He is the national Secretary of ACOG until 2013, and has chaired or served on many other ACOG committees and task forces. After graduating from Yale University, Dr. DeFrancesco attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center and New Britain General Hospital.

Dr. DeFrancesco is the past President of the Connecticut Society of American Board Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. From 1987 through 1995 he served as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Dr. DeFrancesco has been a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care since 1994, and has been on the AAAHC Board of Directors since 2000. In 2009-2010 he served as AAAHC President. He is a member of the AAAHC's Institute for Quality Improvement. Dr. DeFrancesco has been a member of the Executive Council of the New England Ob-Gyn Society since 1995, is the current Secretary of NEOGS, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center School of Medicine.

Matthew L. Saidel, M.D.
Medical Director

Matthew L. Saidel, M.D. is one of the founders and serves on the Board of Directors of Physicians for Women’s Health (PWH), formed in 1997. PWH is the nation’s largest single group practice dedicated to women. As Medical Director, Dr. Saidel is responsible for the oversight of medical quality and risk management for Physicians for Women's Health. He serves on the Board of Women’s Health Connecticut and The ARK Indemnity Company. Having been on the teaching staff of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Hartford Hospital, he has taught generations of medical students and Ob Gyn residents.

Dr. Saidel received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, earned his medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University, and completed his obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency training at Hartford Hospital. He is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Practicing in the Farmington Valley since 1981, Dr. Saidel is a perennial “best doctor” in both the Hartford region and the State of Connecticut.

Dr. Saidel is a Corporator and member of Hartford Hospital’s Medical Executive Committee and is Chief Executive Officer of the Physician Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Breast Care Multi-Disciplinary Work Group and is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center School of Medicine.

Pierre S. Hage, M.D.
Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair

Pierre S. Hage, M.D. is a member of the Board of Directors for both Physicians for Women’s Health (PWH), and Women’s Health Connecticut (WHC). Formed in 1997, PWH is the nation’s largest single group practice dedicated to women. He is a member of Medical Quality Management and Professional Liability/Risk Management and serves as the Treasurer of PWH, the Chair of the PWH Finance Committee and on the Board of The ARK Indemnity Company.

Dr. Hage received his undergraduate degree from The American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon and earned his medical degree at The American University of Beirut, School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, in general surgery and his Ob Gyn residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Hage has privately practiced obstetrics and gynecology since 1995 and is an attending physician at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Connecticut State Medical Society and Fairfield County Medical Association.

Michael Pascetta
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

As Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mike Pascetta oversees the financial functions of Women’s Health Connecticut. His responsibilities include financial reporting, cash management, banking relationships, the overall financial control environment and consulting directly with physician partners on financial matters.

Prior to joining our team, Mike was Chief Financial Officer for Court Square Data Group, an information technology services and consulting company. He held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pharmedica, a medical education company that provided services to the pharmaceutical industry. Mike also held the position of Vice President and Controller of Familymeds, Inc., an integrated retail pharmacy chain and mail order/e-commerce pharmacy business. Mike began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co., where he rose to the position of Manager in the Audit and Business Advisory Services Practice.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and also is a certified public accountant.

Fred Calatayud
Senior Vice President, Chief Operations and Information Officer

As Senior Vice President, Chief Operations and Information Officer, Fred Calatayud is responsible for managing the Central Billing Office, supporting the Billing and Collections function for the Company and its subsidiaries. He also is responsible for the strategic and operational directions of Information Technology for the company.

Prior to joining Women's Health, Fred was the Chief Operating Officer of Pequot Health Care, the healthcare division of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owners of Foxwoods Resort and Casino. In this capacity, he was responsible for the operations and information systems for third party administration, pharmacy benefit management, and mail service pharmacy divisions. He has served as Chief Information Officer for the Yale New Haven Health System’s Management Service Organization, Physician Healthcare Alliance as well as in various information technology leadership positions for Community Health Care Plan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield's HMO affiliate.

Fred holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and a Master of Science degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Daniel J. Contaldi
Vice President, Information Technology

Dan Contaldi is Vice President of Information Technology for Women’s Health Connecticut. He is responsible for supporting the technology initiatives and security for clinical, financial, reporting and claim functions of Women’s Health Connecticut. Dan was one of the first IT employees hired in 1997 when Women’s Health was founded.

Prior to joining Women’s Health, Dan held numerous technology leadership positions in the military, as well as in education, manufacturing and insurance industries. His career spans over 27 years, during which time he has built a number of effective IT teams and systems for small and large organizations.

Dan is a former instructor at Computer Processing Institute in East Hartford, Connecticut. He is past President of the Misys Northeast User Group and a member of SIM (Society of Information Management), HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), CIO Network, Premier IT Professionals and The Green IT Council. Dan is the proud recipient of the Army Achievement, Commendation and Meritorious Service Medals.

Meg Green
Vice President of Operations, Central Billing Office

As Vice President of Operations, Meg is responsible for Revenue Cycle Management for our Physician Partners. She is the liaison between the Central Billing Office and the physician offices providing guidance, process improvements and regular A/R updates. She and her team meet with the insurance companies on a regular basis on behalf of the physicians to facilitate communications and mitigate claim issues.

Prior to joining Women’s Health Connecticut, Meg held the position of supervisor for 15 years at Center for Women’s Health, a four physician Ob Gyn practice. In total, Meg has over 30 years of experience in healthcare billing and operations.

Abha Bernard, Esq.
Vice President of Managed Care

Abha Bernard, Esq., is Women’s Health Connecticut’s Vice President of Managed Care. She has over 15 years experience in building and managing large physician practices and health care organizations. Since joining Women’s Health Connecticut in 2008, Abha has successfully negotiated many health plan contracts resulting in favorable managed care increases. She also has been instrumental in establishing new Ob Gyn pay for performance programs with national health plans.

Abha has served in leadership roles for several health care corporations, as well as the General Counsel and Director of Legal Administration for several profit and not-for-profit health care systems and government agencies. Prior to joining Women’s Health Connecticut, Abha founded an Atlanta-based MSO comprised of over 1,600 physicians, health care facilities, and ancillary health care providers across the Southeastern United States.

Abha attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL earning her undergraduate degree in biology and her Juris Doctorate in Law.

Paula Greenberg
Vice President, Clinical Operations and Programs

As Vice President, Clinical Operations & Programs, Paula Greenberg is responsible for clinical programs, medical quality and risk management, compliance, and clinical oversight of pay for performance programs. She has led performance improvement initiatives for patient satisfaction, leadership development and office staff training programs. With over 20 years in health care management, Paula also successfully developed and supported revenue generating programs and services including imaging and in-office procedures.

Prior to joining Women's Health Connecticut, Paula was the Director of Antepartum & Gynecology Services at Hartford Hospital. She was responsible for inpatient high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, and outpatient prenatal testing. Paula also held additional nursing positions at Hartford Hospital, specializing in general and gynecologic surgery, oncology and medicine.

Paula holds an MBA with a Health Care Management concentration and BSN. She is a member of several professional organizations. Paula currently is serving a second term as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, District I, Public Member and is actively involved in its Patient Safety Committee. Paula has served on several city and state task forces to improve the quality of women’s health and is a current board member of the Greater Hartford Arts Council.

Lynda Godkin, Esq.
General Counsel and Secretary

Lynda Godkin joined Women’s Health Connecticut in 2006. She is General Counsel and Secretary.

Prior to joining Women’s Health, Lynda served in positions of increasing responsibility at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (The Hartford) from 1990 to 2006, culminating in Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Hartford Life, Inc., and Senior Vice President of State and Community Relations of The Hartford. While at The Hartford, Lynda won two Chairman’s Awards. The first, for Outstanding Business Achievement, recognized her leadership of the company’s Initial Public Offering Team. The second recognized her development of the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance (“NINA”), a consortium of The Hartford, Aetna, St. Francis Hospital, Webster Bank, ING and Mass Mutual dedicated to revitalizing the companies’ neighborhood of Asylum Hill in Hartford. Lynda continues as Chair of the Board of NINA.

Lynda previously practiced law at CIGNA Corporation where she advised that company’s medical and dental health care plans. She began her legal career in the Corporate Finance Department at Day, Berry & Howard (now Day Pitney) in Hartford.

Lynda earned her B.A from Mount Holyoke College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and she received her J.D. from Western New England College School of Law where she was Editor of the Law Review.

Kristen Murphy
Controller

Kristen Murphy joined Women’s Health Connecticut in 2007 as Controller. In this position she is responsible for developing the annual budget for the physician group practice, overseeing the payables and partner distributions, and issuance of the monthly financial reports. Kristen is a member of the Finance Committee.

Prior to joining the Company, Kristen was the Controller for HBP Financial Services, a company that provides consulting, management and financial services to Hospital Based Physician practices.

Kristen graduated from Quinnipiac University in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and in 1998 with Masters Degree in Business.
