Co-Medical Director
Matthew L. Saidel, M.D. is one of the founders and serves on the Board of Directors of Physicians for Women’s Health (PWH), the nation’s largest single group practice dedicated to women and formed in 1997. He also serves on the Board of Women’s Health Connecticut. He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, then earned his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School, and completed his obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency training at Hartford Hospital. Dr. Saidel has been practice in the Farmington Valley since 1981. He is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is a Fellow of the American College of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
As Co-Medical Director, Dr. Saidel is responsible for the oversight of medical quality management and risk management for Physicians for Women's Health.
Dr. Saidel is currently a consultant to Planned Parenthood, and is also an advisor to the Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women for women's reproductive health as well as a prominent spokesperson on these issues. He is a member of the Connecticut State Medical Society and the Hartford County Medical Association. Since 1981, he has also been on the teaching staff of the Independent Residency Program in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Hartford Hospital.
