Minerva Endometrial Ablation
What is the Minerva procedure?
Minerva is a treatment for heavy periods, PMS, and severe cramping that can be performed in our office. Minerva may prevent the need to have a hysterectomy in some patients.
During the procedure, your doctor will dilate (open) your cervix and insert a thin, soft wand into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. The wand opens slightly and generates light and heat for 2 minutes, thinning the lining of the uterus.
The entire treatment takes less than 4 minutes. You should be ready to go home about 30 minutes later, and most women are back to a normal routine the following day.
Who is a candidate for Minerva?
Minerva is for women who do not wish to become pregnant in the future. Download the discussion guide here.
