Dr. Rachel LaMonica, born and raised on Long Island, attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She attended graduate school at SUNY Stony Brook, then medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Westbury, New York, graduating in 2005. While there, she was an undergraduate teaching fellow and became a member of the national Osteopathic Scholastic Honor Society Psi Sigma Alpha.
Early in her medical school training, Dr. LaMonica discovered her passion in Women's Health. She moved to Connecticut and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut. Upon graduation from residency, she began a 2 year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at The Hospital of Central Connecticut under the direction of Anthony Luciano, M.D. She graduated from the fellowship in June, 2011.
Dr. LaMonica's professional focus and special interest is in the minimally invasive approach to gynecologic surgery. Her fellowship training encompassed laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and medical management of benign gynecologic diseases, such as endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic pain. Dr. LaMonica is an active member of both the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine/Society of Reproductive Surgeons (ASRM/SRS).
Dr. LaMonica lives in Hartford County with her husband and two children. She enjoys vacationing with her family, especially cruising and Walt Disney World, as well as music, and wine collecting.
