Committed to the Health of Women

In medical school I was taught that a doctor’s role was to diagnose and treat illnesses. Over the years since then, medicine has changed. We have found it is far smarter and much more efficient if we can play a more preventive role and help people stay healthy rather than wait for problems to come along that need to be cured.

In medical school I was taught that a doctor’s role was to diagnose and treat illnesses. Over the years since then, medicine has changed. We have found it is far smarter and much more efficient if we can play a more preventive role and help people stay healthy rather than wait for problems to come along that need to be cured. Also during those years, the relationship between the doctor and the patient has changed as a result of changes in the healthcare environment, particularly as more layers of people and organizations interposed themselves between the doctor and the patient.

We formed Women’s Health Connecticut in 1997 in order to pool our medical resources and partner with our management team for administrative support, freeing up the doctors to devote ourselves more exclusively to our patients' clinical needs. We developed excellent clinical practice guidelines, are committed to continuous quality improvement and have advocated on behalf of our patients, both in Hartford and in Washington, DC.

When I went to medical school, patients were generally expected to be quite passive, and “good” patients listened to their doctors! Today, we firmly believe that “good” doctors listen to their patients! We will be seeking your feedback so we can learn from YOU how we can be better doctors. So far, I have had a very blessed and rewarding life. It has been a real pleasure, and an honor, to serve as Chief Medical Officer of WHC. But even that pales in comparison to the honor my patients bestow on me every time they come to my office and put their trust in me. Nothing will ever surpass the awe and the wonder of delivering a baby into the world! In some ways, we have just “delivered” a new baby… our new and improved website!

Our new website is just the first of many tools that will enhance your “connection” with your doctor. We must (and will) make it easier for you to interact with your doctor and your doctor’s office. We will work together with you to as a partner in your care. We have created a “brand,” and we want you to know that whenever and wherever you see a Women’s Health Connecticut physician, you will get the best in women’s healthcare! We truly are devoted to women and committed to excellence.
