Thursday, May 4 - TRUMBULL, CT. Dr. Ronika Choudhary of Women's Obstetrics & Gynecology, a Women's Health CT practice, has made headlines after delivering a baby on the side of the road in Trumbull.
The baby's mother, Jitka Edel-Vankova of Newtown, went into labor on Thursday morning and headed to Bridgeport Hospital with her husband. While en route to deliver the baby, Dr. Choudhary received a phone call from Edel-Vankova and realized that the couple would not make it to the hospital before the baby came. “At some point I think the shrieks I was producing alerted the doctor and she said we are going to do this the old way. We are not going to the hospital, and she pulled off the side of the highway," said Edel-Vankova.
Mila Edel was born not long after, the third child for Edel-Vankova and her husband. Mother and baby are reportedly doing fine. This is the first delivery outside of a hospital for Dr. Choudhary. Read more about this incredible story here:
