Routine Gynecological Care

CT Women OB/GYN serves women of all ages.  Our highly trained physicians and staff members understand that female bodies have unique needs that make routine gynecologic care essential for every woman, from puberty through menopause.  We stay current on recommendations for routine healthcare and treatment options, helping women stay in optimal health well into their golden years. We believe that women are entitled to accurate and complete information on their health questions and options so that they can better take control of their own health and wellness.

In addition to routine and yearly examinations, we offer:

  • Contraception counseling
  • Pap smears and cervical cancer screening
  • Breast and ovarian cancer screening
  • Osteoporosis screening, prevention, diagnosis and treatment
  • Premenstrual syndrome management
  • STD screening

Adolescent Gynecology

By age 21, regardless of sexual activity, a young woman should have an established relationship with a gynecologist where she can receive routine exams and ongoing care.  The staff and doctors at CT Women understand the feeling of uncertainty that might accompany the first few visits.  We strive to make the experience comfortable and informative by fostering a non-judgmental environment where open communication is encouraged.

There are many reasons why a young woman under the age of 21 might benefit from seeing a gynecologist.  Sexual activity, sexuality questions, irregular periods, mood disorders, PMS, PMDD, and contraceptive counseling are among the reasons why we have patients younger than 21.

We offer vaccinations for girls starting at the age of 11 for the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.  Please click here for more information.

Heavy Periods

For women, menstrual periods are a simple fact of life. An average period lasts 5-7 days.  But if you suffer from heavy periods, or menorrhagia (pronounced men-or-ah-jah), your periods can be a serious disruption to daily living. You may need to change pads or tampons constantly, or wear dark clothing to avoid embarrassing accidents.

More that 1 in 5 women suffer from heavy periods. If you find yourself scheduling your life around your period each month, you’re not alone. The good news is that effective treatments are available, and you have choices.  Please speak with one of our doctors – you don’t have to live with heavy periods and we have options to relieve your symptoms.

  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Adrenal Fatigue
  • Symptomatic Menopause
  • Thyroid Dysfunction
  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Insulin Resistance
  • High Cholesterol (Hyperlipidemia)
  • Inflammation

At CT Women OB/GYN, we work together with patients and the compounding pharmacy to meet each individual’s needs. Each prescription is tailored to the patient based upon a thorough analysis of expressed symptoms and hormone level test results.  Please click here to visit our RENEW program.

Hereditary Cancer Testing for Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer

BRACAnalysis® is a genetic test that confirms the presence of a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation. BRCA mutations are responsible for the majority of hereditary breast and ovarian cancers.  It involves a simple blood test or oral rinse sample to find out if you have one of these mutations. Knowing the results may help us act before cancer has a chance to develop, with a patient-specific medical management plan to significantly reduce the risk of cancer.  Please click here for more information.

Bone Density

Do you have back pain or tenderness, loss of height, slight curving of the upper back? In other words, do you have osteoporosis?  Current therapy is determined by each patient’s specific risks and needs.

XOLO Laser Therapy

Dr. Peggy Ku is pleased to offer laser hair removal services in our Enfield office. Laser therapy has proven time and time again to be the most effective monetary and time savings hair removal procedure in the long term. Our award winning Cynosure Elite Laser System contains both the Alexandrite and ND:Yag laser wavelengths, making it safe for all skin tones. Due to the physics of the laser light, it will not work on white, gray, red or blonde hair (sorry!).

Most clients start with a package of six treatments, timed 6-10 weeks apart. On average, areas will need 6-9 treatments for a greater than 95% hair reduction.

We accept all major credit cards, checks and cash. Unfortunately the laser services are considered cosmetic and are not covered by insurance.
