Shannon Sutherland, MD, MIPH
Shannon Sutherland, MD, MIPH joined the Women’s Comprehensive Health Care team in 2018. Dr. Sutherland offers a wealth of experience to the practice and a special interest in research. During her most recent role as research student in the Ob/Gyn department at the Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Sutherland collected data and writing for various Ob/Gyn clinical research projects. As an Ob/Gyn Summer Fellowship Student, Dr. Sutherland assisted in various areas of Ob/Gyn, including high risk obstetrical management in labor and delivery, Urogynecology, GYN Oncology and REI.
Dr. Sutherland has developed a number of medical presentations, including a recent presentation at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) 2018 Annual Meeting, entitled “An Association between Anemia and Postpartum Depression. Click here to view the presentation.
In May of 2014, Dr. Sutherland received her Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She also earned her Master of International Public Health (MIPH) degree from the University of Queensland in Australia and Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Concentration in Premedicine from The College of The Holy Cross. Dr. Sutherland is a recipient of many awards, such as Administrative Chief Resident for UCONN Ob/Gyn Residency Program, Connecticut Ob/Gyn Research Day: 1st place for Best Original Research, the Sanford Sall, M.D., Award in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an award for excellence in patient care.
