Breast health is a combination of wellness, early identification of any changes in your breasts, and routine care. Breast cancer is a significant concern for women, yet (greater than 70%) of breast cancers are self-detected and greater than 90% may be curable if discovered early. When you are familiar with what is “normal” for your breasts, it becomes easier for you to be able to detect anything abnormal.
Monthly self-breast examinations, daily awareness while dressing or bathing, regular check-ups with your health care provider, and recommended screening mammograms are key to promoting good breast health.
As always, be sure to talk with your health care provider if you have any concerns or questions.
